About the Role
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Proposal Design Manager to lead our solar PV proposal design team. This role focuses on managing the pre-sales design process by delivering accurate, compelling, and technically sound proposals for residential and commercial solar projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of solar energy system modeling and design tools, while also mentoring a growing team of proposal engineers to deliver at scale with quality and speed.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
1. Team Leadership & Management
· Lead and manage a team of proposal design engineers to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of design proposals.
· Provide guidance, mentorship, and structured feedback to team members.
· Track performance metrics such as proposal turnaround time, accuracy, and sales conversion rate.
· Drive continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
2. Proposal Design Oversight
· Oversee the preparation of preliminary solar system designs using tools such as Aurora Solar, Helioscope, or similar platforms.
· Ensure accuracy in energy production modeling, shading analysis, and basic electrical system layout.
· Validate system sizing, component selection, and estimated savings or ROI presented in proposals.
· Review complex proposals or escalated requests from high-value clients.
3. Cross-functional Collaboration
· Coordinate closely with Management and Engineering teams to ensure smooth project hand-offs.
· Act as the point of contact for escalations related to permitting design and proactively resolve issues.
· Participate in client calls and meetings or internal planning discussions as needed to align design processes with overall business objectives.
4. Quality Assurance & Process Management
· Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal quality checks for proposal generation.
· Implement tools, templates, and automation to scale design operations efficiently.
· Conduct regular audits of designs and documentation to maintain accuracy and consistency.
· Optimize workflows to balance speed, accuracy, and personalization of client proposals.
5. Training & Development Responsibilities
· Design onboarding and training programs for new proposal engineers focused on design tools, modeling accuracy, and client-centric communication.
· Regularly conduct workshops on software usage, updates in utility policies, and best practices.
· Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration through internal playbooks and training documentation.
Identify skill gaps and implement tailored upskilling plans for individuals and the team.
